Can the Moon Affect Your Life?

The moon has a subtle affect on most people’s lives, but there are some people who report that they feel the different phases of the moon affect their emotions, their energy levels and as a result, how they live their lives.

Different changes according to the lunar cycle

All objects, including the stars, the planets and satellites emanate subtle frequencies. These frequencies can alter the mental body, feelings, emotions and desires of human beings on a subtle level. The most important times, and the times when the subtle effects are strongest, are during the full and new moon phases.

New moon

The new moon is the birthing cycle of the moon’s various phases. The new moon occurs when you can’t see the moon at all, even though it’s not cloudy! It’s an optimal time for planning and deciding on your intentions for the month to come.

To make the most out of the energy of the new moon and for yourself, set aside a few minutes each month during the new moon to focus on your wishes. Set some new goals for the coming month or the next few months related to whatever area of your life you want to work on. This could be your health, your love life, family life or your work and study. Be careful what you ask for, because you just might get it! Make some lists and add as much details to these lists as possible. Go wild. You don’t really have to be realistic. Use your imagination and imagine what you would like if there were no time or finanacial barriers. Cut bits out of magazines, and make a poster you can put on your wall of your ideal life.

This is also a great time to visualise and dream about your desires. This changes the way you look at your everyday life, and isn’t futile. Take yourself back to your childhood years and enjoy a good daydream.

Things you might like to prepare for this time include a moon phase calendar, to make sure you’re working on your desires during the right time, a notebook, pen and coloured markers, scissors, tape, and anything else you’d like to use when you get creative.

Additionally, cutting your hair during the new moon will help thicken it. If your hair has been looking a bit flat lately, you know when to cut it!

Crescent or waxing moon

When the moon is waxing crescent, it looks like one of those pictures of a man sitting on the moon like it’s a hammock! This is a great time to start thinking about what you want to grow in your life. What do you want to grow in your life?

It’s also a nice time to get your hair cut if you want to work on the roots. For strong, healthy roots and more body, get down to the hairdresser during the waxing moon.

Full moon

The full moon can make you more emotional, sensitive and improve how intuitive you are. This might be a great time to right a diary or paint or draw to express yourself. It’s a nice time to celebrate, too, but if you’re feeling down, spend some time pampering yourself instead.

What about a salt bath? If the full moon is giving you feelings of fatigue during the few days before the full moon, the full moon day itself of the couple of days afterward, a salt bath can dissolve stagnant energy. Pop 2 cupfuls of salt into your bath. You can also add 10-15 drops of lavendar essential oil if you’re feeling stressed out.

Sending blessings. Sometimes the energy is so high during the full moon that you won’t be able to absorb all the energy you create. Try sending blessings to your family and friends, people that have passed away, people in need on the planet, your health, finances or any other area you would like to charge with extra positive energy.

Watching comedies and doing restful things you like doing during the full moon can help keep your energy positive and prepare you for a great month ahead.

Waning moon

Cutting your hair during the waning moon will help strengthen it. If it’s been looking a bit weak or you’ve been noticing more split ends than usual, get a cut during the waning moon and strengthen those locks.
