Do you suffer with a bloated face? Do you find that even when you lose weight you are still chubby in your cheeks? We hear you and understand how frustrating it is to look in the mirror and see that you are still carrying a little extra weight in your face. Luckily, there are a few simple steps you can take to get the angular, thin face you have been striving for. Follow our guide below to learn the 8 steps to a thinner face.

Reduce salt intake

Are you waking up with bloated chipmunk cheeks? It could be that you are eating too much salt right before bed. Overdoing it on the salt intake can lead to overall bloat of the body. If you notice that your fingers are chubby as well, this could definitely be a sign of too much salt consumption. For dinner, try limiting your salt intake and eating fresh vegetables and lean meats. Before you go to bed, drink plenty of water. When you wake up, follow it up with a large 8 ounce glass of water. This should help de-bloat your face as well as give you more energy throughout the day.

Avoid alcohol

Ok, one glass of wine before bed is not going to lead to a puffy face, but three glasses of wine, without a doubt, will. Alcohol is a common culprit when it comes to bloating, especially around the face. Alcohol leads to dehydration, dehydration leads to water retention, water retention leads to a puffy face. Alcohol also contains a lot of calories and if you like your cocktails, the extra sugar can lead to a bloated face. If you are trying to lose weight in your face, we advise staying away from an excessive amount of alcohol, especially right before bedtime.

Eat your veggies

So we may sound like a parental figure when we tell you, “Eat your veggies!” But clean eating is a sure fire way to achieve a thinner face. If you are a person that generally eats refined carbohydrates, try switching out a few meals and incorporating more fresh vegetables. Also, stay away from large amounts of salty and fatty meats. Drink plenty of water and limit your intake of sugary drinks. In just one week, you may notice a significant decrease of swelling in your face.

Facial exercises

Believe it or not, your face contains over 50 muscles. These muscles play an important role in expression. Although we use our muscles everyday, there are a few exercises you can practice to help strengthen the muscles in your face. Pronounce the letter Y and O while accentuating each letter so your mouth opens and closes profoundly. Repeat 30 times and practice daily.

Yoga

The postures of yoga that force your head in a downward position and then back up again may help you tone the muscles in your face. If you focus on deep breathing, this may also help the muscles of your face become tighter and leaner. Yoga is unique because of its challenging postures. Why not give it a go?

Makeup

If you are struggling with the appearance of chubby face, there are always certain makeup tricks that will help reduce the look of a plump face. For starters, choose a blush that matches your skin tone. Stroke the brush from the outer part of your high cheek bone to the inner part near the bottom of the nose. This will give the impression of a more angular cheek line. Drawing attention to your eyes is also a little trick when it comes to making your face seem more angular. Invest in a quality eye liner and mascara and make your eyes the star of your face.

Keep your skin clean

Keep your skin clean and exfoliated on a daily basis. This will not only help reduce breakouts of the skin, but it will help create an impression of a thinner face. Dryness and breakouts can all lead to a puffy face, so do yourself a favour and take care of your skin on a regular basis.

Get more sleep

One of the easiest ways to reduce bloat of the face is to get more sleep. Sleep deprivation can lead to a puffy face, so aim to get at least 8 hours a night. Limit caffeine during the day and avoid eating right before you climb into bed to ensure you will rest deeply.
